Why are present tense and perfect tense used in the same sentence?

„Nun, dann hör zu: Wenn deine Leute zum Mähen aufs Feld gehen und die Frau ihren Säugling neben eine Getreidehocke gelegt hat...'' Why is present tense used for ''go mowing" but perfect tense for "put down", especially when both are referring to the future? Thanks.
